Stag beetle
The stag beetle is a large insect, with loud, lumbering flight.the male has large mandibles that move very little and look similar to stag antlers, from which the species takes its name. the female’s mandibles are much smaller, but more effective.
Adults measure 5 to 8 cm in length, and sometimes much less, depending on what they eat during the larvae stages.
It live in forests or woods.
The larvae live in or under rotting tree trunks on which they feed. adults have a short lifespan, limited to the mating period, and their diet is reduced to a little tree sap or nectar.
